Slip-Not Designs Headbands Review and Contest

Hi Mom's! We all have those bad hair days where we just need a quick solution- or the days we need our hair to stay neat and tidy, but still want to be trendy and feel pretty!

Sara, Christine, and Lisa all had the opportunity to try and review a revolutionary headband designed by local artisan Joelle Cole. Slip-Not Designs

Check out Sara's Review on her blog here.

Christine's Review:
As a lot of you know, I have two special needs children. My daughter Courteney is an absolute girly-girl at age 14! Although she is girly, she has a sporty side too. So, I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity for her to try the SLIP-NOT DESIGNS HEADBAND! Not only was it pink and sparkly (yay!) but it has an adjustable strap on the underside - something I had never seen before. With Courteney's special needs, her head is a little smaller than normal, making virtually all headbands we have ever tried, a complete fail. If a head band is too big, it'll slip right off your head, right? But, this is is NOT the case with SLIP-NOT DESIGNS HEADBANDS! The adjustable strap made all the difference for Courteney! Not all heads are shaped the same!!...AMEN??!!! It only makes sense to have a headband with some adjust-ability. I was excited! Courteney was excited! And I have to say, I think she looked pretty darn cute!!! We even had a dance party and it stayed on through that too!! We are looking forward to playing some sports and her getting to rock this cool sporty (but girly!) headband. This is a great product for all women, girls, and girls with special needs. If you've given up on headbands because of past fails, give SLIP-NOT DESIGNS HEADBANDS a try!

From one mom to another, I would definitely say SLIP NOT HEADBANDS are Mom Squad Approved!!

Lisa's Review:
My daughter, Sarah, is licensed cosmetologist and she has been

trying out this new head band. She said in her professional opinion that she would not only buy these, but promote them! This product is a winner!
It is great because I am an active mom now and the headband works great! I was able to throw my hair up and have it stay in place without worry.
The cheap headbands that I usually buy, will typically slide off my head and end up all the way in my pony tail.
Another positive about this headband is that it has a strap on the back of it that is adjustable.

Kathleen's Review of Hometown Threads

Hometown Threads

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year to go shopping, especially this year.  This fall, I was on the lookout to find a special gift for my new granddaughter (due on Christmas day).  After racking my brain, the Mom Squad came to my rescue.  I was invited to go with Sara and Gina on a shopping trip to Hometown Threads in North Olmsted!  Hometown Threads is a family-owned business that offers custom embroidery, screen printing, digital printing and more.

I was so excited about the shopping trip that I arrived almost an hour early!  Sue at Hometown Threads immediately greeted me and made me feel right at home.  She showed me around the store and explained that they are able to monogram/embroider items that you purchase from Hometown Threads or items that you purchase somewhere else and bring to Hometown Threads for personalization.

Allan, the owner, gave me a rundown of the store’s history.  He explained how they started in a small space at the local Wal-Mart store and then, as the business grew, they moved to their current location at 4636 Great Northern Boulevard.  They added more embroidery machines and a digital printer which takes your pictures and prints them directly onto items such as t-shirts or woven throws.

The prices for the items are clearly displayed in the store.  Many of the prices listed include the cost of personalization.  The turn-around time varies according to what you purchase and what you want done.  I found the prices and the turn-around time to be very reasonable.  My item was ready in less than one week and the total cost of my item was less than $30 including personalization.

Before I share with you what I chose for my granddaughter, here are some other great gift ideas I found in the store:

Monogrammed towels
If you have a wedding shower to attend in the near future, you can either buy towels from Hometown Threads or bring in towels that you purchased from the wedding couple’s gift registry.  This way you can give the newlyweds something they picked out, but with an added personal touch from you.

Lunch bags:
Personalized lunch bags are great for younger children because no other child will have the same lunch bag!  Also, a personalized lunch bag may be a great gift for an older child or adult if you have it monogrammed or have their initials put on it instead.

Items for football games:
Show support for your local high school’s football team by purchasing a warm, soft blanket and a matching cap to take along to each game.  Add a monogram or initials to personalize.  No more freezing at the game!

Sports bag:

Do you have a child that needs to keep track of all his/her sports gear?  Hometown Threads offers a wide variety of duffel bags that can be personalized in many different ways.  No more hunting around for lost shoes and gear!

Baby items
Hometown Threads offers so many cute items for babies.  It was really hard to choose only one gift.  However, I chose a Lovie™ blanket (Baby’s First Sleepytime Friend Character Blanket) and had our granddaughter’s name and a cross embroidered on it for her:
The blanket is so soft and cuddly.  I am sure Reagan will love it, too!

Hometown Threads has a friendly staff, a huge selection of items, and reasonable prices. If you are looking for a special, personalized gift to give to family or friends, I highly recommend a visit to Hometown Threads.  Hometown Threads is Mom Squad approved! Check out the Mom Squad Facebook Page to win a $50.00 Gift Certificate! (9/30-10/1/2015)

#CLEMAMA - 3 Ways to a Greener Household

Moms and Dads, it’s time to go green — but how does that happen? Of course, we know to recycle, turn off the lights when we’re not using them and buy organic, but there’s more we can do.

I’m no expert by any means, but I started doing research and found that it can be easy to be green at home. I’ll admit, it’s no secret that convenience and cost sometimes limit us from living a green or organic lifestyle, but I’ve learned there are so many ecologically sound choices that won’t break the bank.

As you read on, you’ll find that these ideas aren’t simply less expensive; they can actually help you put your cold, hard cash back in your pocket.

#CLEMAMA - Disney Planning Made Perfect with Simple Tips

M-i-c … k-e-y … M-o-u-s-e!…..

Did you start singing the song in your head as you read those letters? There’s something magical and happy about those letters and that mouse. That’s why so many families look forward to planning their family trip to Disney World each year. First off, I have to say I got really lucky and married someone just as crazy about Disney as me — my husband and I collectively have been to Disney World nearly 50 times in our lifetimes. We’ve both been going since we were kids with our families, and now we love to take our own children. With four theme parks, two water parks, Downtown Disney and more, planning a Disney trip can seem like a daunting and expensive task — but it doesn’t have to be. Here are 12 tips for a magical and budget-friendly Disney trip, from our family to yours.

1. Use a Disney travel agent.
Disney pays these agents a commission, making them free for you. They give you great tips, in addition to making all your reservations, including hotel, fast pass and dining plus.

Half Stitched at The Carlisle Inn in Sugarcreek Review by Marlia

As I sit in my living room admiring the beautiful bouquet (that my mom won) that now adorns my glass table, I am reminded of the unforgettable experience that I had Saturday night. To catch you up on the festivities, I was invited to attend Half Stitched the Musical at the Ohio Star Theater in Dutch Valley. This was date night for me and my mother. We drove from Cleveland to Sugarcreek and it was a straight shot down 77S to the Amish Country. The Theater itself was located inside of the Carlisle Inn. Upon our arrival we were greeted with beautiful scenery and friendly faces. Sugarcreek was more than welcoming.

To our surprise, there were several treats and food options to pick from in the lobby of the hotel. We had strawberry shortcake, cookies, meatballs, fruit, chicken, and sandwiches. Everything was prepared by happy hands which made the food truly enjoyable and satisfying to my growing appetite. I was in awe of the hotel and its design. The area where we were being entertained was in its simplest form, majestic. I would recommend every person reading this article to go and visit. The Inn itself is a must see. More amazing than the actual hotel was the oncoming play that my and I drove an hour to see.

Both floors were covered with pure candle eye candy, home décor, 19th century architecture, and antiques. The interior designs were fabulous! We were in candle heaven and no one wanted to leave.

Playground World Play Date Recap from Josie!

What a great time we had at Playground World in Chesterland yesterday (there is a west side location too)! I had no idea they had so many fun things for the kiddos to do. To be honest, I thought it was just a place that sold equipment. Actually, there were a bunch of different swing sets, trampolines, basketball hoops, slides and so much more! My son was in two year old Heaven! He loved jumping on the trampolines, climbing the ‘rock’ mountains, and swinging with his friend Reagan. However, nothing was more amazing to him than flying the big plane. If I would have let him, he would have played on that plane all day long!
