Journal of Blessings - Acknowledge the Joy, Peace & Laughter God Brings to Your Life

God blesses me everyday with His special touch. Isn't the awesome power of God AMAZING! There is so much about His character that shows us just how much He loves us. He even has a sense of humor and He wants us to laugh, love and have an abundant life.

The other day I baked 2 batches of homemade biscuits, but I got distracted during one of the sessions and overcooked one of the batches. The kitchen was hot, I was pressed for time and yet I wanted to serve my Mom, husband and son a lovely meal. I stopped in the midst of it all and prayed, "Dear Heavenly Father, You are such a Wonderful and Loving God. Thank You for all Your provision for my family. I surely don't want to be wasteful. Help me think of something I can do with this batch of hard biscuits that will bless someone. Please help me to slow dowm and focus this day. I want to have a relaxing meal, get dressed and make it to our event in a timely manner. Thank You for everything. Amen."

Well, after the batched cooled, I felt the Lord telling me to find a person with a large dog and offer the biscuits to them as they might enjoy mixing the biscuits into their dog's food. That idea brought me peace. I immediately thought of an older gentleman...a master welder actually that had done a wonderful job handling some auto repairs for me.  His years of experience saved me hundreds of dollars, and he, like me, had been the caregiver of his Mom for many years. I put the bag of biscuits in my car but I forgot they were there for several days.

Each day afterwards, I would get in my car and enjoy a magnificent aroma. I would actually take several moments before starting the car and going about my merry way to take a few slow deep breaths. I kept wondering, "Where is that marvelous smell coming from?" It really took me back to my younger years of catching the bus from Garfield to Downtown Cleveland for work and enjoying the smells of the Mom & Pop bakeries that existed in those days. I even thought about times I had spent with my Mom in my grandmother's kitchen. I hadn't thought about that for years.  Everytime I got in and out of the car that smell brought me such peace, comfort and fond memories. When I finally took the time to explore the car, I found the biscuits! HAHAHA. I have been laughing about that ever since and thanking God for allowing me to find so much peace, joy and laughter in overcooked biscuits.

He is so good to us each and everyday. What special thing stands out in your mind that God has shown you recently? Write it down. If you haven't done so already, I encourage you to begin your Journal Of Blessings today! My church is using a book entitled, God Sightings - Learning to Experence God Everyday, by Group Publishing for daily study. You will be amazed as you look back at your entries over the years at the many times God turned stressful, difficult or unusual circumstances into amazing blessings.

P.S. Watch for a simple homemade biscuit recipe later this week! Adios.
